It was with much sadness that we learned of the passing of Cyril O’Connor in the early hours of last Thursday. As everyone in the local rugby community knows, Cyril was a great man, loved by all who met him, and a stalwart of Tata Steel RFC for the last twenty years or so. Cyril was instrumental in the successful merger of St.Josephs Old Boys with British Steel as it was then known, and thanks to his efforts & endeavour , the club has continued to thrive , and was a source of great pride to him that Tata Steel are still a force in the National Championship.
