Tata V Glamorgan Wanderers

TATA STEEL 26 - 22 GLAMORGAN WANDERERS

Tata started at a frantic pace with both backs & forwards running hard and straight , which released live wire wing Jordan Skidmore down the right for the first try of the afternoon, converted by Jack O' Reilly.
However if anyone thought the Wanderers were here to just make up the numbers they were mistaken , as although their pack were struggling to contain the Steel eight, their backs were cutting great angles, and slicing through the Tata midfield almost at will it seemed. Sure enough centre Lloyd Chalke quickly notched a couple of tries through some slick handling, one of which was converted by fly half Callum Bricknell.
As the game approached the half hour mark Tata's Jordan Skidmore received a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on whilst attempting an interception, and Callum Bricknell slotted the resultant penalty for the Wanderers. Then, right on the stroke of half-time Tata were awarded a scrum five metres from the Wanderers try-line, and there was only going to be one outcome, as referee Justin Williams finally lost patience with the visitors disintergrating pack, and signalled a penalty try.

HALF TIME , TATA STEEL 14 - 15 GLAMORGAN WANDERERS.

Sadly, the second half became a stop start affair with somewhat inevitably passive scrums being called for, taking away a major weapon for the home team. The Wanderers continued to throw caution to the wind however, and scored a great team try finished off by flanker Mikey Owen. The game by now had lost all structure and continuity with the many injury breaks, and Tata did well to fashion two more tries to secure the result , from strong running centre Bleddyn Davies , and a second for winger Jordan Skidmore. Whilst the bonus point win was most welcome for the Steelmen, it does not hide the ongoing line - out deficiencies , which could prove costly if not addressed soon.

FINAL SCORE, TATA STEEL 26 - 22 GLAMORGAN WANDERERS.
